Despite the weather, Spring Forward Festival is still on. This event is so fun we couldn’t let a little weather stop us! However, the location has been moved to Woodard Campus Center–Great Hall. This is the same location as Pumpkin Palooza. Parking is in the Visitor’s Parking Deck. Please call us at 540-654-1802 for any questions.
See you today starting at 1!
What a great success our Variety Show was this past weekend–thank you to all that came out to support us and a big thank you to our performers. You were great!! We were able to raise a sufficient amount for our Alternative Spring Break program and for Habitat for Humanity.
On to our next event..
Spring Forward Festival! This Sunday, March 24th, 1-4 PM will be our Spring Forward Festival. We are looking forward to our second to last big event this semester and hope everyone from the community can come! This event is open to all of the community and is geared towards children. There is a large egg hunt (one for older kids and one for younger children.) There is food, crafts, and games. And the best part: it’s free! We are crossing our fingers for great sunny weather this Sunday.
So, come on out this Sunday at Brompton–the President’s residence–for some spring fun and even see our bunny! If you have any questions about it, feel free to call us at (540) 654-1802.
Our last event of the semester will be Act! Speak! Build! Week! More information on that will be here shortly. See you all Sunday!
To let everyone know, all of our programs have officially started for this semester and if you want to volunteer with any of these programs just go to the programs link at the top of the page and email the coordinator!
Our next big event will be the Variety Show on March 16th at 7:30 in the Great Hall! This is to raise awareness and funds for the Alternative Spring Break Program. Admittance is free but you can buy raffle tickets for a dollar and win prizes, such as movie baskets, restaurant gift cards, home improvement things, etc. It will star some of UMW’s own performers, such as Bella Acapella, One Note Stand, UMW Dance Team, Alter Egos, etc.
Well look forward to seeing everyone there!
We hope all of you have had a great Winter Break and are as excited as us to begin the 2013 Spring Semester! As you all know, COAR has three big events during the Spring Semester. They are:
- Variety Show in March
- Spring Forward Festival in March
- Act! Speak! Build! Week in April
We hope all of you will be able to participate and we will have more information shortly. Also, please come out to Club Carnival on Wednesday, January 16th from 4-6 on Ball Circle!
Look forward to seeing all of you this coming semester,
Getting in the holiday spirit as December quickly approaches? Love to wrap presents? Every year, COAR sends over 700 shoe boxes of toys and clothes to at-risk children at the Head Start preschools. But each box needs to be wrapped to be exciting and pretty for the kids when they open the box to find all the presents! Join COAR in the Dome Room of Seacobeck on Friday, November 16 from 5-8 for wrapping boxes, cookies, hot chocolate and good holiday cheer! If you would like to wrap and fill your own box email firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by our office under Seaco to sign a box! We look forward to seeing you there!
Do you love working with kids?
Come out to one of COAR’s annual events Pumpkin Palooza this Sunday, October 28, from 1-4pm in the Great Hall! You can help out by being a trick-or-treat guide and leading the children around campus to the different residence halls or doing crafts and games with the kids in the Great Hall. Get in the Halloween spirit, come out and see all the neighborhood kids dressed up in their little costumes!!! Hope to see you there!
Any questions just email email@example.com! We look forward to hear from all of you!
Are you interested in spending one Saturday helping out the community? Come to the COAR’s annual Into The Streets event on September 29, 2012 from 10:00 am-noon! You can volunteer to help with one of four projects:
Help out with the Alzheimer’s walk by handing out water and cheering on the walkers, distributing pinwheels and setting up the Memory Garden or signing in walkers!
Habitat for Humanity
Help out Habitat for Humanity by building picnic tables with your peers that will be donated to families in need!
Help out Micah, a local homeless shelter, by going to the shelter to organize materials to get them ready for the cold weather!
Friends of the Rappahannock
Help the Friends of the Rappahannock by going to our local Rappahannock River to clean up and keep the Rappahannock beautiful!
These all count as volunteer hours and all transportation will be provided by COAR. If you would like to volunteer or get more information just email COAR at firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to see you there!! J
